Market Mission Statement
It takes a Village.
The mission of Hudson Valley Open Market is to positively engage our community with farms, food, handmade goods, music and other entertainment, as well as social interaction that supports local businesses, residents, and visitors.
We are here to nurture every walk of life...no matter the path you take. Love...respect...compassion.
How We Came To Be
The Market was founded in July of 2024 by brother and sister, Dave Wagner + Laura Foster. They saw a real need in their community for an expanded and more consistent farmer’s market. If any town should have a solid farmers market, isn’t it New Paltz!
The market started at the Ulster County Fairgrounds mid-season in 2024. It was located in the large open green space, in front of the Field Of Dreams, with the stately Shawangunk Ridge as its backdrop. The response the Market received from the community was incredible, and encouraging. People wanted the Market to be more accessible for all.
In May of 2025, the Market was relocated to the Village. The New Paltz Central School District was extremely kind to welcome the Market to the New Paltz Middle School front parking lot, for the entire season. The community was grateful.
And that is where the Market will be from now on. Please go visit the Market, and support the efforts made by its founders, and incredible vendors.
